AYR flying for Merlin
Wednesday 8th February 2006
London-based AYR Aviation welcomes major international humanitarian charity "Merlin" to its growing list of major clients. AYR's Gavin Connolly said, "I am delighted that Merlin will be using our aircraft in Pakistan for the first time. It gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities in a very difficult environment for helicopter operations".
Merlin is to lease an Mi-8 transport helicopter from AYR Aviation to support their hospital outreach programme.
Merlin have deliberately set up their mobile medical facilities in remote areas of the Himalayan foothills, to support those still suffering from the October earthquake and now the bitter winter that has arrived with a vengeance.
The locations of the clinics are on the very edge of helicopter performance, but AYR is confident that their highly experienced crews are more than equal to the challenge.
Gavin Connolly said, "Flying so close to the helicopter's maximum capabilities is taken very seriously. Flight safety is our primary concern, but our personnel in Pakistan are the best".
